Bikemovement DVD
The Bikemovement DVD, a recently released documentary, invites groups to further the exploration begun by young adults who traveled cross country in the summer of 2006. While traveling cross country, the cyclist group gathered in church communities to hold honest discussions where all questions and comments were welcome. Over the many miles, those engaged with bikemovement 2006 cultivated a relevant community through conversation, which continues in this documentary. Engage your youth group with this unique and extremely valuable resource, and don’t forget to enjoy the ride!

Random Acts of Kindness
Evan Almighty, released this past summer, invited its viewers to imagine a world where people take upon themselves acts of random kindness (A.R.K.). Evan Baxter (Steve Carell) found that by resisting God’s call to construct an ark, he was resisting the opportunity to help others. In the end, Evan found his kindness was deeply appreciated, despite the initial misunderstanding and ridicule he experienced when assembling an ark.
Youth groups often plan mission opportunities well in advance, and rightly so with coordination of transportation and other details. In contrast, for those who thrive on spontaneity, Evan Almighty indirectly invites youth groups to give of their time and help someone with a random task. Divide your group into manageable, smaller groups of four to six people including one sponsor. A youth group can help a person in the congregation, a stranger, or a local business by spending 1-2 hours serving them in whatever way they request.
